The Simpsons: Tapped Out- Trouble In Springfield?

Despite overwhelming success, EA cannot deny this game's issues.

When Electronic Arts released The Simpsons: Tapped Out March 1st of this year, the highly anticipated game was plagued with glitches. So much so, that the publisher made the decision to pull its title from the App Store altogether. It reappeared a few months later, and since that time, has achieved thousands of players that cannot resist the temptation of creating their own Springfields. EA, meanwhile, has been aggressive behind the scenes, making tweaks and releasing downloadable content, the most notable of which tied into the recent Treehouse of Horror.

Despite the game's popularity, all is not well in virtual Springfield, and nowhere is this more evident than Tapped Out's Facebook page, where many of those same fans continue to post a variety of complaints. Among them, problems with logging in, disappearing donuts (one of the game's virtual currencies) and server errors.

Here's a small glimpse at the frustration:

-I can't believe this game has yet to address the fact that hundreds of people can't even get on to get new characters. You can at least give us an update. Lets us know you are working on getting fixed. I have tried everything to get on. I am about to just say forget it and delete the app.

-I am so mad I can't play and so I can't even get this character. This is frustrating you say that those with an old version of the iPad won't work but my husband can get on and he has the first generation and I have an iPad 3 and can't . I have tried everything and would like at least a sign that you are fixing this problem .

-I've deleted, re-installed, checked my Origin account online... all the stuff I'm supposed to do. And I can't get in. At all. And judging by the lack of response to my trouble ticket $40 of donut purchases don't entitle me to any tech support.

-I've been trying to play every hour of everyday and still cannot get past the "cannot connect to server" page!! I don't get the option to "log out" Let alone achieve new characters!!! I've sent an email to the CEO and haven't receive a reply! Thousands of us unable to play have spammed these page with complaints, and our complains have fallen on deaf ears!!! What's it gonna take to get a patch?? I'm freaking out here!!! FIX THE DAMN GAME ALREADY!!!!

-Ok great I got back on, but lost every damn thing I was on level 17, n had tons of stuff. Now I has to start all over again. I put in the same address same password, n it's all new.

To EA's credit, the publisher acknowledges the issues. When contacted, we received the following statement:

EA is aware that some of our fans may be experiencing connection issues and/or difficulties purchasing donuts in The Simpsons: Tapped Out. We are currently working on a solution to these issues, and will share information as soon as we have it.

Granted, that doesn't specify how much time it will take to repair the game, but it's good to know EA recognizes the weaknesses. At the end of the day, all we want is the smoothest-playing experience possible, and hope disappointed gamers eventually receive the fixes they're demanding.
