Grand Theft Auto: Vice City For iPod Touch Prompts Player Complaints
Rockstar responds to game lag and crash concerns.
Rockstar Games has responded to complaints from iPod Touch owners that the recently released Vice City lags, or even crashes entirely, when played on the fourth-generation version of the popular hardware.
In a statement on the developer's support website, the company outlined a potential workaround for the problem, as well as confirming that the issue was being investigated:
"We have received some reports about performance issues when running Vice City on 4th Gen iPod Touch devices," it reads.
"You may be able to resolve this by closing all applications running in the background and then performing a hard reset:
- Close all background applications: Double-tap the Home button and close all other applications.
- Reboot the Device: Hold down the "Sleep/Awake" button for a few seconds and then slide the off button to confirm the reboot. Let the device sit for around 30 seconds to ensure the shut-down has completed and then hold down the On button to turn the device back on.
If the issue is not resolved, try deleting the app and freeing more space on the device before re-downloading (at least 2.5 GB).
"If the game still crashes, try removing other apps from the phone to rule out any potential conflicts.
"If you still experiencing performance issues on iPod Touch 4th Gen and you are interested in receiving an automatic email notification as soon as there is more information, please log into the Support Site and click subscribe at the top of this page. We are looking into this on our end as well to verify performance and will update this article whenever there is new information."
The page was updated last night to confirm that the issue was still under investigation, and a new update on the issue would be provided soon.
We reviewed the iPad version of Rockstar's stellar crime caper at the end of last week, and awarded the game a 4.5 out of 5 Stars rating. The Android version of the game has yet to be released, but we'll let you know as soon as it becomes available on the Google Play service.
