Where's My Holiday?
Small but sweet, just like the cookies we left for Santa.
With Christmas trees still in homes and boxes of holiday cards on discount at the local supermarket, we had no qualms playing Disney's Where's My Holiday?, a freemium iOS and Android title that serves as a promotional vehicle for the publisher's smash hit games, Where's My Water? and Where's My Perry? While light on content, who can argue with another 12 puzzles? Not us.
With this download, players receive six stages for Swampy the alligator and Perry from Phineas and Ferb, respectively. Despite subtle changes to puzzle solving, the ultimate goal of ferrying water to a specific location remains intact. How you go about doing this, of course, is what makes each side unique.
Swampy's stages, for example, task you with digging through dirt to guide H2O into his bathtub while at the same time collecting the three rubber ducks along the way. Perry, meanwhile, is a bit more complex in the sense that you manipulate water's three forms (solid, liquid and gas) to proceed, with the ducks replaced by garden gnomes. One stage, in particular, lets you unleash laser fire to melt a snowman in the hope of snagging gnomes and sending Perry on his way, but you'll need to make all the right moves, lest you run out of the wet stuff.
With most of these puzzles, much head scratching and experimentation ensues. Utilizing a train and Christmas tree are but two of the app's highlights, and as usual, superb touch screen recognition means you'll have no trouble scooping away huge and tiny clumps of dirt.
Obviously, the game's biggest issue is length. Levels grow increasingly difficult, but it won't take long for seasoned players to run through each stage, perhaps in under an hour, while at the same time unlocking the handful of achievements.
At least on the positive side, the Christmas-themed graphics and music make Where's My Holiday? a joy-filled experience, and if you crave more of Where's My Water? and Perry?, each one is available for $0.99 apiece, along with free versions with exclusive content. If you, like us, wish the holiday season were just a bit longer, ring in the New Year with this festive treat.
