Famicom Micro Comes Stateside
Oh, did you import already? Shame, that
At a Nintendo press summit held today (which Modojo attended, more on that later), company Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Reggie Fils-Aimes, revealed that the immensely popular Game Boy Micro Famicom edition released in Japan earlier this year would also be coming to North America.
"The Special 20th Anniversary Edition Game Boy Micro is an anniversary present to millions of Nintendo fans, who 20 years ago single-handedly built this entire industry," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications.
Arriving later this December, the system will be called the 20th Anniversary Edition Game Boy Micro and retail for the same price as the standard units currently on sale. No word on whether this edition will be for a limited time only, but suffice to say that it will no doubt be a popular item this Christmas.
Along with the very unique look to the system, it'll also come with a $10 coupon that can be used toward the purchase of "select Nintendo-published Game Boy Advance" titles.
