The Drowning Trailer Puts Unique Control Scheme On Full Display
Scattered Entertainment's new iOS title could revolutionize first-person controls.
Smartphone and tablet first-person shooters suffer from tricky analog controls that don't come close to the comfort and spot-on precision of a traditional controller. Scattered Entertainment hopes to change that with The Drowning, a survival horror/action game that operates quite differently from the competition.
As you'll see in this video, the FPS plays nothing like its counterparts. Instead of fumbling with virtual sticks to move and look, you tap the screen and drag a finger, respectively. To shoot, double tap a creature and the bullet will travel to that exact location; you can forget about easy headshots via auto targeting. Meanwhile, you zoom with a pinch.
The game looks impressive thus far, and we're looking forward to going hands-on with The Drowning in the weeks ahead.
