Hearthstone: Heroes Of Warcraft Unveiled For iPad
Blizzard announces collectible card game. Sign up for the beta.
Business just picked up in the crowded card battle genre, as Blizzard revealed Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for iPad, PC and Mac. Set within the popular World of Warcraft universe, this free title lets gamers play as one of nine heroes and take turns with rivals customizing their decks, harnessing unique weapons and abilities and then casting powerful spells.
Designed for both card battle novices and experts, the game will feature an in-depth tutorial. In addition, card packs will include five random cards, with the developer categorizing cards by rarity: common (white), rare (blue), epic (purple), legendary (orange). On top of that, users will score one card of rare or better quality with each pack. There's also the outside chance of them upgrading to a "Golden" version of those cards.
Blizzard is currently accepting entries into the beta, and plans to test an in-app purchase system via Battle.net, though players will also acquire cards through Practice, Play and The Forge modes.
No release date, but Blizzard plans to make the game available in the same regions you would find World of Warcraft. That said, we look forward to learning more about this promising title in the near future.
