House Of The Dead Overkill: Lost Reels Splattering iOS And Android
Given the satisfaction that comes from mindlessly pressing touch screens, Sega's House of the Dead franchise would make a great fit. Apparently the publisher agrees, and House of the Dead Overkill: Lost Reels is on its way to iOS and Android later this year.
Inspired by the previously released Wii and PlayStation 3 versions of Overkill, this title incorporates levels from those games while retaining the over-the-top gunplay. That said, players will attempt to track down madman Papa Caesar, investigating bloodstained environments while at the same time blasting swarms of zombies, some of which throw machetes. As expected, tapping a creature's head results in a gooey explosion, and the game will also come with screen-clearing grenades that destroy multiple enemies.
The Lost Reels will contain two modes, Story (three worlds) and Survival, the latter of which sends you on an endless rampage against waves of flesh-eaters. In addition, the game comes with three control schemes- d-pads, accelerometer and what Sega calls Frenzy Tap; players must unlock the last one. Also keep in mind that, similar to previous games in the House of the Dead universe, the action is on-rails, and players don't have direct control of the character.
The early version is a bit rough around the edges, but we're confident that Sega can add a layer of polish before the game debuts in April. With this in mind, we'll have more on The Lost Reels in the weeks ahead.
