New Games On The App Store - May 29, 2013
We've no objections to this week's midnight releases.
Thursday always sees the arrival of some great new games, but even we're surprised at the potential quality of this week's incoming arrivals. Whether you're a fan of table-top fantasy gaming, or you're just keen to get your hands on a touchscreen edition of a modern classic, this week's release schedule is shaping up to be one of the best we've seen for a while.
As franchises go they don't get much bigger than Warhammer, but this particular game is in pretty safe hands with the team at Rodeo Games - they created the Hunter games, after all. This latest release from the studio is based on a Warhammer table-top game from the good old days, and is stuffed to the brim with loot and fearsome warriors.
Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy HD
No objections here - we're delighted to see the Phoenix Wright series make an appearance on the western App Stores. If you've never played a game in the series before, you can sample a couple of cases for free, then decide whether you want to pick up titles individually, or just grab the whole series in one bumper trilogy pack.
Chillingo's latest release stars titular character Jack in a platform game that spans 37 unique levels. As you'd expect from a game that pays homage to the golden years of the genre, there are coins to collect, plenty of power-ups to unlock, and a huge number of themed environments to explore. If you need a game for the whole family to play, this is probably the one to pick up this week.
This space exploration and combat game is sure to tickle the fancy of any Galaxy on Fire fan. Take command of one of five different warships, then roam the galaxy in search of precious minerals so you can upgrade your fleet with even more delicious firepower. Likely to be a title for those who like a good grind in their games, and who aren't afraid to admit it.
Jet Point combines puzzles with platforming to create something that's certainly pleasing on the eye - and will hopefully deliver in the gameplay stakes too. You'll have to make your way through each trickily designed level, and disable your enemy's weapons so you can progress even deeper into the game's dark cyber-network world. Check out the video above for a taste of how this all plays out.
