iOS And Android Games Of The Week: July 5, 2013
Nothing “despicable” about these games.
In the U.S., we're just about melting from extreme summer heat. At least on the positive side, we can stay indoors and play a variety of great mobile games. This week saw an old Xbox Live favorite make its iOS debut, while a movie game done right (yes, they do exist) had us glued to our Android screens for hours.
iOS: Limbo [Download]
Despite being three years old, we welcomed Limbo to the iOS App Store. The creepy puzzle/platformer sends a young boy through a dark and mysterious world in search of his sister. Each screen forces you to solve some sort of brainteaser, be it avoiding a monster's pincers or figuring out how to get over a pit. Both visually striking and fun, this Xbox Live Arcade title continues to entertain regardless of platform.
After years of terrible movie games, we didn't expect much from Gameloft's running adventure, and perhaps that's one of the reasons we like it so much. The developers captured the spirit of the films by putting those adorable minions in the starring role. From there, they introduced a variety of types, boss battles (something almost unheard of in running games), tons of collectibles and excellent-looking visuals. It's a bit older, but no matter. You need this free-to-play game on your device.
