Amazon Reportedly Working On New Android Console
We could see it as soon as Black Friday this holiday season.
Android-based consoles have grown in number this year, between the upcoming GameStick and the recently released OUYA. However, Amazon could soon dominate the market, if the following report is true.
A story from Game Informer indicates that Amazon is hard at work on its own Android-based gaming unit. The system is supposedly in development, and could be released as soon as this holiday season - more specifically, Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.
The report says that Amazon will leverage the titles available for the system, with one productivity or game app offered free of charge. It will also come with a specially made controller to take advantage of said apps.
Amazon has seen great success with its line-up of Kindle Fire tablets, so it's only a matter of time before its Android game console does the same. The company had no comment, but you can expect to hear more soon.
