iOS And Android Games Of The Week: August 16, 2013
Enjoy a big-time sequel, and score the perfect goal while you're at it.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is the iOS game of the week. No big surprise, considering it was PopCap's most highly anticipated sequel, and iPhone/iPad developers quickly made way for its arrival. That's the only way to explain the lack of big-time releases. Fine by us, as we have no qualms kicking back and shredding zombies across a variety of backgrounds.
If you prefer Android, here's an addictive soccer/football game from Chillingo that'll consume hours of your life.

The original Plants vs. Zombies debuted in 2009, and the sequel was worth the wait. PopCap delivered much-needed variety to the franchise, complete with new backgrounds (prepare to visit ancient Egypt and the Wild West) and most importantly, new plants and zombies. Along the way, you'll find treasure and super charge your plants with power-ups. The best part? It's free-to-play. That means in-app purchases may or may not factor into the experience, but regardless, Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a worthy follow-up and one of the best games on the App Store.
Instead of competing with EA's FIFA series, Chillingo focused on one aspect of soccer, penalty kicks. The result is a delightfully intense one-on-one battle, as you and your friends attempt to score on each other/deflect shots on goal. Perfect Kick suffers from network issues and choppy play as a result, but it's still an enjoyable game that helps pass the time.
