iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c: Five Things We Love
Apple's new phones are on the way. Find out why we're excited.
As expected, Apple announced a pair of new iPhones during its press conference today in California, confirming the continuation of the popular mobile brand. The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are on the way, bringing a number of new features that are sure to please Apple lovers.
On that note, here are five things we dig about these new "i" devices.
The Development Potential

Even though the iPhone 5c is built upon familiar technology, the durable new build, likable colors - five available in all - and lower price should attract new app developers, thus expanding the appeal of the overall App Store for new and current device owners alike.
However, let's talk about the iPhone 5s. This device will come with a 64-bit processor - a first for mobile devices - making it the most powerful to date. Can you imagine what kind of console-quality games developers can make for it? We already caught a glimpse of Infinity Blade 3. Throw in high processor speeds - "56 times greater" than the original iPhone - and the potential is limitless.
New Colors

It's about time Apple embraced something a little more colorful. With the iPhone 5c, you have the option of five different colors - yellow, blue, white, pink and green. Sure, in the past you could've just snapped on a decorative case and not worried about the base color, but these are bound to attract buyers, more so than the usual black and white models.
Likewise, the iPhone 5s looks surprisingly sleek with its three designs - gold, silver and the awesome-looking "space grey." It resembles a next-gen phone, with a reconfigured home button and a fancy retina display that makes it easier to see what you're doing. Not that the previous iPhone display was shabby by any means, but this is definitely a step above.
You've Got The Touch

The iPhone 5c may still require the entry of passwords with purchases and what not, but Apple reached the next level with the iPhone 5s. It replaced bothersome text entry with a simple scan of your thumbprint, with a device built in to the home button that will read who you are. Not only is this a much more convenient way to buy things through iTunes and the App Store, but it also secures your phone in case it's stolen - a huge plus for those worried about security issues.
Plus, there's something about having a scanning device built into a phone like this that makes you feel all secret-agent like, especially with the space grey model.
We're excited to give this new tech a try.
Smile, For Real This Time

The iPhone 5c will come with a quality camera in its own right, enabling users to talk to each other in FaceTime or take pictures with the help of a built-in 8 MP camera and HD support. However, if you really want to take killer pictures, the iPhone 5s is where it's at.
The device comes built in with a number of features to make your pictures and video clips even better, with auto-exposure adjustments, a dynamic local tone map, auto-focus matrix metering and two built-in LED's - white and amber tones - to make sure you find the best shot. It also does a shuttershot style effect, showing you multiple pictures available for selection, and automatically recommending the best one.
Sure, you may not be a camera enthusiast, but it's nice to have an option available where you can find your best shots.
They're Affordable

Finally, let's talk price. Where most Apple devices in the past broke the bank, so to speak, both the iPhone 5c and 5s are priced to sell. You'll still need a two-year contract for phone service, but outside of that, it's a steal.
The iPhone 5c will sell for $99 for a 16 GB model, or $199 for a 32 GB model. That's fairly affordable, and you receive a cool mobile device for your money.
As for the iPhone 5s - you know, the really cool one that you'll probably get - you can snag a 16 GB model for $199, 32 GB for $299 or 64 GB for $399; same prices as usual. For those who want to get the most from their devices, the 64 GB is the way to go - especially in space grey. There's something about that color that stands out.
The iPhone 5c and 5s will release on September 20th through Apple stores and select retailers.
