Angry Birds Star Wars 2 Dethrones Infinity Blade 3, Virtual Gloves Come Off
The summer movie season is both rewarding and brutal. Unless you release a high profile film like The Dark Knight or The Avengers, there's a good chance you'll occupy the number one spot for only a week.
In the mobile game business, this block of time is even shorter. Chair Entertainment's Infinity Blade 3 [Download: iOS] debuted September 18 and quickly became the number one paid game on the U.S. App Store. Less than 24 hours later, it dropped to number two, no thanks to Rovio Entertainment's Angry Birds Star Wars 2 [Download: iOS|Android]. The birds are no strangers to being number one, with their games holding onto that coveted position for weeks at a time.
In a way, the battle is somewhat lopsided given the price of each game. Angry Birds sits at $0.99, while Infinity Blade 3 costs $6.99. That said, the fact that Chair's title managed to achieve such a high ranking at what some consider an exorbitant mobile price is impressive; it's absolutely worth it. We also expect both games to battle throughout the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch, as players seek the best downloads for their new toys.
We've covered both extensively, so let us know which game is your favorite.
