DeNA Brings Back Arcade Shooting With Lawless
Fans of House of the Dead and Time Crisis shouldn't miss this.
Remember old-school arcade shooters? You know, ones like Time Crisis and House of the Dead, where you filled everything with virtual holes? Well good news - DeNA will bring back a similar vibe with its upcoming Lawless.
The game, due for release on iOS devices, takes place in the 1990s in the midst of Los Angeles, where players battle as a professional criminal, working his way through the underworld in a cover-based shooter. You'll fight your way through bank robberies, assassination missions and gang shootouts, using a simple touch-and-shoot control set-up.
Currently in development at EightPixelsSquare, the game features the leadership of Ben Cousins, who previously worked on the first-person shooter The Drowning. Other members of that development team also worked on the arcade shooter Dead Space: Extraction, so they're familiar with the arcade shooting tactics.
"Lawless is an intense, skillful game designed as an ode to classic light gun shooters and filled with the retro Californian feel of 90's bank robber movies," said Cousins. "It's been a great experience collaborating with the talented team involved with Dead Space: Extraction to bring a cinematic arcade shooter experience to mobile."
Lawless should release sometime soon, but users can pre-register now for the game on its official site and receive a free Glock 17 Dual Wield weapon upon its release on iOS devices
