Pink GBA SP Announced
The GBA is still alive and well with female and more casual gamers...
It might seems hard to believe, but Nintendo is still selling thousands of GBA SPs every month, despite the release of the sleeker and smaller GameBoy Micro and the considerably more powerful Nintendo DS. The more casual (often female) gaming audience waited to jump on the GBA train until software and hardware prices dropped, and there was a large enough library of titles worth their attention.
It is with this audience in mind that Nintendo announced a new pearl pink GBA SP. "It's the latest in a line of pink high-tech products designed specifically to cater to the tastes of girls and the people who shop for them," Nintendo's announcement noted.
Nintendo also cited girl-power gaming statistics, such as 43 percent of all gamers and 24 percent of all GBA owners being female.
The new unit will be released on March 27 with an MSRP of $79.99.
