Nintendo 3DS Update Adds Miiverse
Users can also take advantage of Nintendo Network ID functionality.
A while ago in one of its Internet-based Direct specials, Nintendo announced that it would release an update that would bring Nintendo Network ID and Miiverse functionality to the 3DS, tying it together with the Wii U into one universal account. Today, the update finally arrived.
The free-to-download update allows users to register a Nintendo Network ID to their system and coordinate with their Wii U to combine balances so they can make purchases through the same account on both the console and handheld.
On top of that, Miiverse support has also been added. This allows users to connect with players around the world to share experiences and game tips. An Internet connection is required, obviously, but you have the ability to queue up to three posts within this mode, as well as screenshot content from the top or bottom screen, if you want to share gameplay.
Finally, system transfers are now unlimited, should users want to move content to other systems. Previously, it was limited up to five times.
