Ridge Racer Slipstream Cheats And Tips
We'll help you rule the virtual road.
â¨While Ridge Racer Slipstream doesn't quite have the mileage to overtake some of the better racers in the iOS market, it does provide more than enough arcade thrills to get you through the holidays.
Here are some tips to help rev your engine.
How do I drift in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
The drifting system is rather easy to learn, but will take you a few turns to master. Coming into a sharp turn, don't decelerate. Instead, go ahead and start turning your car in the direction of the turn, then tap the brake. Don't hold it down, just tap it.
As you go into the turn, you'll begin to drift. Now, the important thing here is to keep a handle on your car as you go into it. Continue steering in the direction of the turn until you start coming out of it, then compensate by turning slightly the other way.
Do this properly, and you'll accomplish your drift without careening into a wall or a fellow driver.
How do I fill up my boost meter in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
You can fill up your boost meter by completing drifts in the game. Each track has an ample amount of turns for you to drift through, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to fill it up.
After the meter fills up, the announcer will let you know so you can use it for a quick boost. However, keep in mind that it's a three-level boost meter. You can actually continue building it so you'll have a longer boost. We recommend saving this for that last-second finish line rush, where you don't have to worry about turns, as this can be a challenge while going faster.
How many courses and modes are available in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
There are 10 courses in all, but you can race them backwards and forwards, Ridge Racer style, making for 20 available set-ups. As far as modes go, there are only three. Regular race is your typical "point A to point B" event to the finish line, time attack has you post your best times for each race (which are then compared to your friends online) and Knockout is a multi-lap race where the last place driver is eliminated once each go-around is completed.
Knockout is probably the most fun, as it adds the most intensity to a race. It will really push you to keep the lead as much as you can, so you don't end up with a last place finish.
How do experience points work in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
As you go through each event in the game, you'll earn experience points that add to a total displayed on the main menu. You'll want to keep earning these, as you'll gain access to additional cars and upgrade parts once you reach a certain level.
Some of the advanced cars may take a little longer to reach, but devoted Ridge Racer fans certainly won't mind pushing to get to that level.
How do I purchase cars and upgrades in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
Over the course of each event, you'll unlock Ridge Racer credits that you can use for your purchases. Some of the better cars in the game cost a bit, as well as the premium parts that go with them.
In that regard, you have two choices. You can either drop a few dollars to buy the cars directly or purchase in-game credits, or you can continue going through racing events to earn them. The choice is yours, but we recommend the racing route. It's more fun, and you'll have more opportunities to master the drifting system.
How does the Grand Prix event work in Ridge Racer Slipstream?
The Grand Prix will test your elite racing skills across over 100 different events. This is the best way to go when it comes to earning credits to unlock cars and parts, and it'll make you progressively better as a result.
Some of the races are repetitive - again, there are only 20 overall tracks in the game - but it'll give you a chance to master the courses and show those AI drivers, as well as your friends on the leaderboards, who's boss.
