Mr. and Mrs. Smith
A game so bad, Brad Pitt should hit it with a golf club. And then Angelina Jolie should shoot it. Twice.
When I saw Mr and Mrs Smith earlier this summer, I thought it was a total gas. The blend of such talents as Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Vince Vaughn, combined with the action-packed scenes within, made it breezy summer entertainment. I only wish I could say the same for the mobile game of the same name, as it feels like a vapid cash-in rather than a fulfilling game itself.
The game takes place in a simple format, on a neighborhood street with numerous people walking around. As either assassin Mr or Mrs Smith, you must find enemies and gun them down quickly before they can take you out, as a death sentence has been handed down to you following the revelation of your marriage to an enemy. After all, Mr and Mrs Smith work for warring agencies.
The plot is the main highlight of the game, as the gameplay is flat and empty. It's shooting action unconcentrated and frustrating, and it really never comes together as fun, no matter which weapon you use. The graphics are alright but the format never changes place, just staying on the same street. No driving stages? Bummer. Music is vapid and hardly there.
The game is just a quickly rushed product to try and cash in on the success of the film, but don't be a sucker. It really doesn't validate itself in any way, especially in terms of fun. Do yourself a favor and just go watch the movie again.
What's Hot: Based on a terrific movie.
What's Not: Plodding action; terrible design; little variety.
