Duet Game Cheats And Tips For iPhone And iPad

Get around blocks and learn from your mistakes in this challenging game.

You probably won't see a puzzle game as mesmerizing as Kumobius' Duet for iPhone and iPad. In it, you guide a pair of colored circles - blue and red - across a circle-like grid, avoiding incoming blocks by rotating. It can be tricky at first, but once you learn the basics, it's a wonderful experience.

That said, these Duet tips should help you master the game.

Getting Around Blocks is Easy...Sometimes

When it comes to devising the best strategy to get around incoming blocks, it's best to keep it on the straight and narrow. For instance, if you see a long, straight piece coming down, keep your red and blue circles to the side and it'll pass right through - you won't get penalized for blocks dropping through your grid. Likewise, if you see pieces to the left or right of your grid, aligning your dots in an up-and-down fashion will let you pass through them with ease.

Master Those Turns

When it comes to blocks that look downright unavoidable - thick ones that block your way completely - remember that you can turn while passing the blocks. Make sure the first one goes past first, then begin turning clockwise or counter-clockwise using your thumb so the other piece gets around it. This can take a bit of practice, but should you mess up, you can start at the checkpoint and try again. Just keep at it.

Keep on Spinning

With some rapid-fire blocks, which come at you in one of the early levels of the game, the best technique is to actually spin to get your dots past them. You'll see an on-screen tip indicating to spin to the right. Give it a shot - you'll actually pass by the blocks without coming into contact with them. You can also reverse it counter-clockwise for the next string of blocks that come your way. It's surprising how well it works.

Learn from Your Mistakes in Duet

When it comes to restarting a level, keep an eye on where you messed up before. It's easy to see this, because whenever your red or blue dot hits a block, it leaves a paint stain on it. Remember where you went wrong and try something new.

Some levels require multiple tries to get through, especially later on in the game, when blocks drop like crazy. Don't get discouraged. Keep in mind the basic tactics of rotation and spinning, and you'll get through them eventually.

How to adjust for moving blocks in Duet

As you proceed through Duet, you'll see both moving and spinning blocks. With these, you'll have to adjust your strategy a bit, shifting at just the right times to avoid impact. Later on, more of these will show up. Again, don't worry if you fail numerous times - practice makes perfect in a game like this. In some cases, you can go in the direction of the spinning pieces to avoid contact, while moving back and forth with the shifting blocks. Keep at it and you'll eventually open up the next stage.
