Trust me. Let the aliens win.
How hard can it be to really muck up a classic arcade game in a cell phone port? Centipede? Miserable. Defender? I don't even feel like talking about that pile of crap. Now we have Namco bringing us a portable version of Galaxian in the form of Galaxian Mini, a game that's obviously called mini because it's been condensed. Not just in terms of size, but in terms of fun.
Let me run this past you and see what you think. Imagine a game that looks like Galaxian with the aliens shooting at you and such, but in a much smaller format. The space between you and the aliens is shorter, leading them to have lesser attacking patterns. Huh? Couldn't Namco have just shrunken things down to keep the flow of the original game intact? Also, what's up with the controls? Slow and unresponsive. How hard can it be to make a ship go left and right and then fire? Why can't it fire while it's moving?
There's so many things I could complain about here, like the poor sound and the cramped graphics and the way the game plays worse than a blind referee in a soccer match, but instead I feel like just brushing this aside and moving along to something better. Like Galaga. Leave Galaxian Mini to those who prefer less quality gaming on their phone. Poor saps.
What's Hot: Based on the arcade classic.
What's Not: Slow, plodding gameplay; bad presentation.
