Disney's The Lion King
Bid farewell to this King.
You know what? If this is Disney's idea of making someone royalty, perhaps it's best just to remain a commoner. Or, who knows? Maybe it would be regretful to be such a commoner to a shoddy king. Any way you look at it, The Lion King for the mobile phone circuit is not nearly as good as the old Genesis and SNES platformers. Hell, I think I had more fun playing that Timon & Puumba mini-games off the Internet than I did this dreck.
Think of a basic platformer. I mean a basic platformer so basic that it doesn't even have any kind of boss challenges. Or variety. Or fun. This one was literally dialed in by Disney in order to produce interest in the Lion King brand, and nothing more. The gameplay is uneventful and boring and never really breaks out from the norm. Not even a Timon & Puumba bug collecting fest. Just avoiding bugs and hyenas and jumping gaps. Yay.
Worse yet, the graphics are so primitive that even cavemen would consider it primitive, with minimal animation and barely any appealing colors. The sound is also yuck-ville, with laughing hyena sounds so terrible that they sound like engine noises. Do yourself a favor and skip this King, and go directly to the movie on DVD. Or the older platformers. Can't lose there.
What's Hot: Based on a good movie...and that's it.
What's Not: Poor platforming play; bad design.
