Burds Cheats And Tips

It's time to ruffle some feathers.

Where most bird-themed games concentrate on flapping or launching, Burds relies on solving puzzles. You'll chain birds together by tagging them on a playfield, either horizontally or vertically. The more birds you remove in a string, the higher your score will be. In addition, you can earn extra seconds by eliminating them in a square-based format, or collecting coins throughout.

Here are some tips that will help you get through the game with ease.

How do I eliminate birds in Burds?

You simply connect them together by dragging a finger over them. They have to be connected horizontally or vertically to do this, but you should have no problem creating chains of two or more.

The real points, however, lie in connecting Burds in certain formats. If you connect five or more in a string, you'll earn a point bonus. You can also tie four grouped together into a square and eliminate all of the same kind from the board, an effective tactic that will bounce up your score.

How do I earn extra time in Burds?

There are three ways.

The first is by using the freeze time power-up, located at the bottom of the screen. You'll receive a few of these when you first start the game, but you'll need to purchase more when you run out.

The second is from collecting coins. You'll find these strewn throughout each stage, though you'll need to string them together by drawing a line between them. The more you collect, the more time you'll earn.

Finally, by reaching a certain score in the game, as you'll see with the meter located above the playfield, you'll earn up to 30 seconds extra time per segment. Keep stringing together birds and you should continue adding to your current run.

How do I use power-ups and bombs in Burds?

As you continue playing through your session, bombs and other power-ups, like freezes and eggs, will appear. If you connect these with other birds, they'll take different effects, like removing all of a similar kind from the playfield or freezing a certain block.

The best way to use these, however, is to chain two together. If two bombs appear and you can link them, the whole screen will clear, giving you a tremendous point bonus.

There are also three general power-ups to use at the bottom of the screen. The Boost gives you the opportunity to undo a previous move; the Zap lets you take a single bird off the playfield in case they're getting in the way of a chain; and the Freeze Time power-up allows you to slow the action for a few precious seconds.

There are a few of these provided, but soon after, you'll need to use coins to purchase them.

Do I need to pay for anything in Burds?

Not really. You'll earn a major amount of coins on the playfield, which you can then use to buy more power-ups for 10 a pop, for a total of 20 coins per purchase. However, you only have so many turns that you can use at a time, as you've only got nine hearts. After that, you have two options.

The first is to wait it out, as coins rebuild automatically. The second is to pay for a quick refill, which will cost you $0.99. The choice is yours, but there are always other apps to play while you refill.

The game lets you buy coins for anywhere from $0.99 to $24.99, in case you want more power-ups right away. You're better off just seeing what you earn in-game first. You'll save money that way.
