Add to your bankroll with these helpful tips.
Big Fish Casino is easily one of the better simulators out there, and a perfect way to work on your gambling game without sacrificing your real cash. It includes a number of activities straight from the hottest casinos, including blackjack, roulette, craps, and two kinds of poker - the traditional Texas Hold 'Em and Video Poker.
To help get you started in the Poker realm, we've got some tips that will assist you in knowing when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em.
Video Poker
If you're just getting started in poker, Video Poker is the best way to go. It's much quicker and not nearly as competitive, and it offers three variations to choose from at first - Jokers Wild, Jacks or Better and 2's Are Wild.
Jacks or Better is the traditional way to play poker, and is the best mode to get started with. Here, you'll see what kind of hands can earn you money, including, well, jacks or better. This mode will teach you the basics, and you can go from there.
After that, move up to Jokers Wild. Here, you'll occasionally be given out Joker cards that can be used as any sort of card. So, if you have a straight and a Joker to go with it, you can utilize it to fill in the blank and earn the cash. They don't come up as often as we'd prefer, but you'll definitely find them useful when they appear. Make sure you hold them, although, most of the time, the game will do it for you.
Finally, the best mode out of the three is 2's Are Wild. That's because 2's are much more common than Jokers, although the values change at the table when you use these, usually to three similar cards or better. You'll see the game hold the best cards if you automatically have a winning hand, but keep an eye open for high value cards that will pay off with the 2's, including queens, kings and aces. They're most likely to get triples with, unless you manage to draw two of a kind on the first hand out.
One other note - while you're playing Video Poker, if you get a "hot hand," you'll have the option to gift fellow players in your section with gifts. Don't hesitate to do so, as you'll level up a lot quicker as a result and unlock the Gold variations of the Video Poker games. These will allow you to bet more money (at better odds) and really clean up.
Texas Hold 'Em
Texas Hold 'Em is a traditional poker game, where the dealer lays down five cards and you try to make your best hand possible with the two you're holding. Along the way, you'll be able to bet against opponents and see if you can cash in when you finally lay down your winning hand.
When it comes to starting the betting, see what cards are in your hands first. If you have a good pair or at least a 10 or a jack to work with, go ahead and bet. If it's something like 3 and a 7 in your hand, hesitate and see what the rest of the table is doing. Play it like you see it, but don't be afraid to fold on a hand or two. No one ever made money simply on luck.
When the first few rounds come with betting, some hotshots may try to throw you off with a big bet - some even go all in with their funds. Check your cards and proceed carefully. They may be bluffing, but they might also have a pair of aces that will bury you. See what the behavior around the table is, then make your move.
Again, be nice to your fellow players. If you do roll in a few good hands, share the generosity and buy a round. You'll add to your leveling up and eventually move on to bigger and better tables.
Speaking of tables, start at the cheaper ones until you get the hang of what the game has to offer - like Atlantic City and its 4K minimum. You'll be able to play more hands this way, and, win or lose, last longer than you would in Las Vegas. Only when you're sure about your A game should you move on to the more winning tables.
Good luck, and have fun!
