SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul Cheats And Tips
The soul still burns for your mobile device.
A couple of years ago, Namco released SoulCalibur for mobile devices, a high quality port that (mostly) captured the essence of the arcade fighting game. This week, the company tried something different with SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul, which takes the fighting action of the original and combines it with a unique role-playing approach, as you conquer enemies in different areas and forge new weapons and cards to create the ultimate combatant.
The experience is somewhat overwhelming, but we have a few tips that will help you get started.
How do I play SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
It's a fighting game with a twist. Rather than controlling your character directly, you issue attack commands through a series of cards issued to you randomly in a deck. The goal is to defeat your enemy while occasionally using healing to avoid running out of energy (as noted in the energy bar right above the fight) and blocking incoming attacks that could do severe damage to your character.
The key is to try and build up as many combos as possible, ranging from kicks to high and low slashes. By putting together three or more cards in a row, you create a more powerful attack card that pretty much guarantees severe damage to your opponent. As you dish these out, their energy will drop, and soon enough, you'll win the fight and move to the next opponent.
Between rounds, you'll be able to manage a number of options for your fighter, from making their weapon stronger to leveling up and improving their speed and attack skills. These are vital in order to keep going, so keep a close eye on your deck.
What's the best way to build combos in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
Get attack cards together. If you see cards in your deck that are alike, such as the High Slash cards, try and form a combo where they eventually pair together, putting ones in the way in your attack line. They will then join up and give you an opportunity to strike back against your opponent in a stronger manner. This should help you win with ease - even against tougher boss characters that appear later down the road.
How do helper cards work in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
Before the start of each bout, you'll be able to select a Helper card so you can stay in the fight. You'll want to keep an eye on both their rarity and experience level. The higher they go in these categories, the better they'll be able to assist you during a fight. Make sure you line these up in your deck first, and even have one in the leader position that will keep you strong throughout.
In addition, you'll also get more friend requests depending on which card you have in your leader position. By adding friends to your roster, you'll run into a better opportunity to swap medals with them, and amass a collection that you can add to your character profile. The more medals you carry, the more people will take notice - thus leading to more friend requests.
How do I sort cards in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
This is probably one of the more difficult parts of the game, as there's a lot to manage between general character Avatar cards and weapon cards. At first, it can be quite difficult judging which ones will work best for you, depending on which character you have assigned as the leader.
To help get started, we suggest going to the "edit team" menu and then selecting auto edit. By doing this, the top cards in your deck will automatically be chosen, making it easier to get through battles than just trying your luck with random choices. As time goes on, you'll be able to glance over your deck and make decisions from there, but it's best to go with the auto-choices whenever you can. It certainly won't let you down.
How do I manage rare Avatar cards in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
The system won't always work in your favor, as you won't be able to place a rare Avatar card in your leader deck unless your nine diverse weapons. At this time, you'll want to learn the basics about card management.
Start out with an auto edit in your deck, and then, upon receiving a rare Avatar card, check for any repeat ones. Swap them out with weapons you didn't have already, and you'll be able to slot the card with no problem. Your attack strength should be about the same, so don't worry about losing out on a weapon's power. You've still got plenty to choose from.
How do I level up a character in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
There are two areas in which you can level up your warrior - directly and their weapon.
For both, you'll be able to Reinforce and provide Resonance. Reinforce lets you merge cards into characters to level them up in various areas, mainly attack and speed. This will also sacrifice older cards so you can make room for new ones.
As for Resonance, this will increase your ability to gain rarer cards for your character, while at the same time clearing away older ones no longer of use, such as repeat weaponry. Try these out and you'll see the skills of your fighter exponentially improve.
Don't forget you can sell cards that you no longer use. Once you get the hang of card management (after using auto edit for some time), you'll see which ones you no longer need, and can systematically eliminate them for more gems.
Do I need to pay for anything in SoulCalibur: Unbreakable Soul?
There's always the option to purchase new weapon and Avatar cards so you can add them to your deck, and they usually go for a few gems at a time, depending on rarity and overall power. Shop around and see which ones work best for you.
Items are also available, and again require a few gems to purchase. These include AP and HP increasing power (which require anywhere from 15 stones to 100 gems, depending on worth), as well as the ability to master a character right away by purchasing memories directly, which will make you more skilled in battle.
You'll earn a few gems over the course of the game, but if you want to speed up the process, you can spend anywhere from $0.99 for 100 gems to $49.99 for 5,000 gems, with a 1,250 coin bonus. That's probably the best way to go, but try fighting a few times and work on card management before you worry about making an investment.
