This Means War! Cheats And Tips
Unleash mines and missiles upon the enemy, then lead your troops to victory.
Fans of real-time military strategy games will thoroughly enjoy TapZen's This Means War!, a game that does away with heavier tactics in favor of setting up a strong offense while preparing your base for incoming attacks from enemy soldiers.
The game can be overwhelming because of its action-based approach, but we have a few tips that will transform you into general material in no time!
How do I play This Means War!?
You command a variety of assault tactics that you can unleash on not only enemies in the single player campaign, but online as well. You'll want to make sure you find a fair balance of tanks, troops, helicopters and bombers, using each to your advantage to overcome incoming enemies and take their base.
Of course, you'll need to defend your base as well. However, rather than wasting your time putting together a number of resource buildings (as other games are prone to doing), This Means War! asks you to focus directly on what's protecting you, like mines, traps, missile sites and bunkers.
Enemies usually come from one general direction, so the best tactic is to create a funnel with your base structure, then deal with them through that direct route. You'll want to watch out for stragglers, obviously, but the main focus is firing upon the general force, then dealing with whatever's left over. Of course, having a good offensive team going after the enemy's base at the same time is a smart move.
How do I manage upgrades in This Means War!?
Since you don't have to worry about putting together too many buildings, there are a few general areas you'll want to focus on.
First, make sure your storage is at maximum capacity. By doing this, you'll be able to have plenty of soldiers and vehicles on hand to storm bases. After that, work on your resource buildings so you can keep them strong and sufficient, perhaps even starting with the Red Mercury Collectors, who are the strongest in the bunch.
In addition, keep tabs on Army camps so you keep your soldiers in line, then keep your defenses maintained. Missile sites are your best bet, as they're most effective with destruction. Protective bunkers can also do wonders, guarding soldiers against incoming enemies. Of course, traps are a great way to go as well, especially when it comes to those stupid enough to wander into them.
It can take time to balance everything, but just remember that you have to keep everything fed through a source. If that's cut off, your army won't stand a chance.
What's the best attack method to use in This Means War!?
One thing we've learned while playing this game is that sometimes enemy squads will miss soldiers who flank from the sides. While a good frontal assault serves its purpose with the bigger vehicles in the game, try to save some squadron members to deal with enemies from the sides, or in some situations, the rear. By doing this, you can overcome the base a lot easier than a full frontal assault, and move on to the next one.
Important note: practice the flanking tactic during the single player campaign. People playing online multiplayer are a little smarter, so try to see what tactics they use and adjust your attacks accordingly.
Should you lose soldiers while battling, don't worry. They'll eventually regenerate and you can send them back onto the field. In fact, it's highly recommended you send them as soon as you can, so their squad doesn't gain any leverage.
Do I need to pay for anything in This Means War!?
General battling, both through story and online, is free-to-play. That means you can get most of the action without dropping a dime. However, if you really want to make your army unstoppable and upgrade vehicles, soldiers and your general base, you can purchase power cells, which you can turn around to make them stronger.
Power cells range in price, running from $2.59 for a bag up to $124.99 for a warehouse. It's best to play through the game first and get a rough idea of what you want out of your assault tactics, then purchase accordingly.
