You'll be yelling “timber” while playing this immensely enjoyable mobile game.
Sometimes you need to take a second from your day to appreciate the simple things, which often turn out to be the best. The same can be said for video games. Sometimes the most simplistic games are the most fun. That's where Timberman comes into play.
In Timberman, you take control of a lumberjack, who is given the unenviable task of cutting down a seemingly endless tree. The goal is to chop down the most chunks and get the highest score possible. You tap the screen on the left or the right to cut down the tree. As you are cutting down the tree, you must avoid incoming branches; getting hit by a branch will kill your lumberjack.
Not going fast enough will also cause you to die. At the top of the screen is an energy bar that depletes if you don't go fast enough. As you cut down the tree and reach the higher levels, the bar depletes faster.
In addition, the game has alternate skins you can unlock by obtaining higher scores. Skins for your lumberjack range from a different color shirt to a hockey player to a medieval knight and even the president of the United States. Finally, the game contains a classic 8-bit art style that compliments the cheesy 8-bit music.
People looking for a game with a deep storyline, great character development and unique gameplay should look elsewhere. This game's goal is to entertain you for a few minutes at a time and doesn't try to be more than that.
Timberman is a very fun and super simple game anyone can play. Video game pros and casual fans alike can easily become obsessed with trying to get a higher score than their friends. The game doesn't pretend to be a deep engaging experience; its charm lies in its simplicity.
