How To Find An iPhone 6 If You Didn't Preorder
If you watched the press conference, drooled over the new iPhone, made plans to purchase one, but then didn't actually preorder one, don't fret just yet. There's still time. Though launch day is tomorrow, you still have hope. Hold onto it and let us help you out, and you might be able to snag a launch unit tomorrow, September 19.
Despite the fact that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a killer record for sales with 4 million units preordered in 24 hours, there are still some handsets that may well be available here and there. Apple has announced that some iPhones will be available on hand for pick-up at the store for those who weren't able to get their orders in on time. You may well be lucky enough to procure a phone that way, but here are some alternative suggestions.
You could still try to preorder
If you walk into an electronics store right now and try to preorder a phone, you still may well get one. If someone doesn't pick one up or if you go ahead and get the order in, you may very well walk away with a phone in-hand if you put in the effort.
Use an iPhone tracking tool
There are already apps and other programs online that allow you to track exactly where iPhones will be and where there's actual stock. You just type in your address and will be rewarded with estimates of what's in stock where. There's an official Apple app to use to assist you, but keep in mind they may not update as quickly as the phones go away.
Check around in less-populated areas
If you live in a heavily-populated town or city, consumers will already be swarming. Scout around and see if, quite possibly, a store that's out of your way has any iPhones in stock. Chances are they may still have some floating around. It's worth checking if the phone is worth it to you.
Hit up eBay
You might have to pay exorbitant prices, but you can bet there will be extras floating around eBay even before the phone releases. Beware of scams, but if you've got the extra cash and you simply can't wait, you can almost inevitably find these devices on eBay waiting for you to swoop in and pick them up.
The old-fashioned way - wait in line
When all else fails, head out to your local electronics retailer or phone carrier and line up. But make sure you don't even try to attempt this without first waking up at the crack of dawn. That's the only realistic way you might have a chance. And if you still can't procure one in this manner, hey -- waiting never killed anyone, now did it?
