Shoot the Moon
Space has fascinated humans for thousands of years, who continue to wonder what's out there. Of course, we see the the moon on a nightly basis. It's a wondrous thing, but who has never dreamed of shooting the moon with rockets? In the free-to-play game, Shoot the Moon, you do just that.
Shoot the Moon is a very simplistic game. The moon bounces across the screen and you tap to shoot a rocket towards it. One missed rocket and it's game over, so you need to fire your shots wisely. The closer the moon is to the rocket's launch point, the less points you receive for a successful hit. As you keep hitting the moon, it will speed up, making the shots more difficult. The moon will also periodically spawn "little red things" that also bounce around the screen. Hitting one of these will result in a game over.
The game has a quirky cartoonish charm, with the moon humming a song as you fire rockets in its direction. As you keep hitting it, the moon and the song speed up. Hit the moon and becomes angrier, while missing causes it to produce a sigh of relief. This personality adds charm to the experience.
Unfortunately, there are few options in the game. There is a leaderboard and score sharing, but there are no other modes of play or unlockables. Unlockable songs would have been a nice feature and would of given the player something to strive for.
Shoot the Moon is a very simplistic yet addictive game. Anyone will be able to pick up the game and have a blast playing it. They will also get a good laugh at the ridiculousness and quirkiness of the game itself. Suffice to say, it's worth a look.
