Jet Run: City Defender
Alien invaders are the scourge of humans on earth and it is your job to defend the planet in Jet Run: City Defender.
In Jet Run: City Defender you control a fighter jet that is trying to take down aliens that are invading the city. Jet Run is an endless runner title. You swipe the screen to move your fighter and you tap on the enemies to fire missiles at them. The enemies come at you in waves as you fly around the city and you have to shoot them down as well as avoiding obstacles and enemy attacks. You are also trying to complete various missions while you are doing your runs. These missions range from killing a certain amount of enemies to traveling a certain distance. There are many different abilities that you unlock and can use to help defeat your enemies. You have items like the nuke, which will wipe out all enemies on screen or you have slow motion, which slows down time for a brief period. The game atmosphere and environment are stellar. The city looks very nice and all of the buildings and advertisement billboards are very well detailed. The alien's look is reminiscent of a "space invaders" look, which is pretty funny and a cool idea. The game also has a cheesy action hero song that plays throughout your run.
The game can be very repetitive at times. There are not many obstacles as you are flying through the city and the enemies are pretty easy to kill, so there is not much skill involved in the game. The items and power-ups given to you can be very useful, but they only have a limited number of uses before you need to buy more, you use coins that you collect during your runs to do this, but if you don't have enough, you'd have to use real money to buy them. The game also only has the one level and it would have been nice to see the game played in different environments.
Jet Run: City Defender is another endless runner game that doesn't do much to stand out from the crowd. It has solid graphics, but the gameplay is much the same that you would find in any other runner gamer, you are still avoiding obstacles as you move around the map.
