New "non-game" DS Applications Announced
A dictionary, a math and speech program, and more have been announced...
One of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's main points at his Game Developer Conference Keynote address focused on broadening the boundaries of videogames, specifically with the DS. Three of Nintendo's planned "non-game games" have been announced as educational titles:
Nou o Kitaeru Otona no DS Training (Brain Training) is a math and speech program utilizing the DS's touch screen and voice recognition, aimed specifically for adults; Yawaraka Atama Juku (logic puzzles) is a primarily picture "Question & Answer" title, appealing to all age groups (both titles will retail for about $27 in Japan); and DS Rakubiki Jiten is a reference dictionary with touch screen character-recognition for searching for specific words, and will retail for roughly $46.
At present time it is not known whether or not these programs will be released outside of Japan.
